Surrealistic Planet

Land of Dope and Glory

When you’re a worm, sometimes turning is no longer an option.

To Gabriel Clegg, disappointment is a familiar friend, one that arrives unannounced, eats you out of house and home then leaves without so much as a thank you. His life is safe and predictable, determined by the humdrum routine of teaching history to apathetic undergraduates. Home life is dictated by his wife, Isolde, a woman terminally dissatisfied by the doormat she married.

Tristan, his brother-in-law, disrupts this monotony by using Gabriel’s name to sell a shipment of cannabis. This valuable load of weed triggers a gangland turf war in this East Midlands market town - with Gabriel caught in the middle. His efforts to escape this disaster, place him in even greater danger, as he accidentally uncovers crime on an epic scale.

With no friends to help, and a wife whose fury operates on Wagnerian proportions, Gabriel faces threats from all directions. Until help arrives. Except this help brings its own problems, and is likely to change Gabriel’s life, forever.
